This lecture will address some of the unique, and not so unique, features about cats that influences their dietary needs.

Learning Objectives

1. Understand what is and is not unique to cats in terms of nutrition and metabolism

2. Understand the importance of protein for cats, including amounts and types, in healthy cats and those with kidney disease

3. Understand about carbohydrates in cat nutrition, including amounts and types, in healthy cats and those with diabetes mellitus
