Description

Antibiotic resistance profile of E. coli strains isolated from nine cases of vertebral osteomyelitis (VO) in broilers from seven different flocks in Southeast Brazil was performed. The strains were tested for 16 antibiotics belonging to eight different classes: aminoglycosides, beta-lactams, cephalosporins, phenicols, polypeptides, quinolones, sulfonamides, and tetracyclines. Most strains, 55.6% (5/9), were resistant to more than three antibiotics and were classified as multidrug-resistant E. coli.
