Five captive birds died from systemic tetratrichomoniasis with typhlitis, hepatitis, pneumonia, splenitis, and/or encephalitis and numerous intralesional protozoal trophozoites. Sequences were consistent with Tetratrichomonas gallinarum. This is the first report of fatal tetratrichomoniasis in both anseriform and galliform birds in a facility and a failure of an antiprotozoal treatment.
